“When will you leave?” The Duke asked as the hostile silence of the breakfast irritated him. “As soon as possible, your grace. But I presume, it will be today.” Stephen replied politely. “Very well. Have a safe trip.”
“Of course.” Stephen smiled at the Duke on his concern.
Sebastian does not know what is happening. His cousin is leaving Cornwall. Where will he go? Does this mean he needs to go with him? He denied that idea of going with him, it is much better without his cousin. He can talk privately with Marie. He won’t be worried that his cousin would interfere his long talk and explanation to Marie, and his cousin won’t poison her with ideas that aren’t true.
Sebastian glanced at Marie. She looks very composed and her eyes didn’t show puffiness, which means she didn’t cry over him over the last night. She might have not been in love with him. And with his absurd ideas, his heart tightened. He stared Marie and observes every rising of her spoon to her mouth, and imagined how great she kisses him. The more he thinks of her, the more he loses his breath, and the time comes he would be suffocated by her beauty and elegance.
Marie stood up before the rest of them, and left immediately. She said that she wouldn’t be disturbed. She has lot of lessons she needed to learn and other important matters to finish. Sebastian got what she meant.
“Sebastian, keep away from me.” That is what she is trying to say.
Mary ambled back to her bedchamber and her footsteps echoed all over the hall which Sebastian dreaded a lot. Hearing it may also mean it is goodbye for the two of them.
But, then, his cousin is leaving, he can talk to her peacefully and calmly. There would be no one to interrupt them.
Stephen and Mary followed Marie, and the three of them went back to the bedchambers. Sebastian gathered already that his cousin is packing his things. Mary might be studying with her governess.
Sebastian decided to talk to Marie after supper. She is easier to talk to at night and with the help of wine, she might be intoxicated and forgive him with no doubts. Thus, he went to the library and read books, and wrote a letter to King to inform him that he is having a good time in Cornwall.
