Chapter 14
Chris feeling rejuvenated. Everything in his life is perfect and there is nothing he could ask more. He did his usual routine, took a bath, changed his clothes, and checked his e-mails. Lastly, he will call his mother in France. Chris took his phone and saw there were five missed calls. Chris wondered who might call him five times. It seems to be an emergency, so he hastily checked it out. It was his mother’s number. He grew worried and called his mother immediately. It took three calls before it was answered. “Mom, is there a problem?” Chris said as soon as the phone was answered. “Chris,” a male voice said. “Who is this?” Chris asked, cold sweat is starting to form at the back of his neck. “This is you cousin, Adrien.” “Adrien, where is my mother? What’s the problem?” “Chris, I know this is not right way, calling you on your phone, to tell you something very important. Chris, your mother, she passed away last night. You need to go home in France and study here. According to your parent’s will, you are going to acquire the family’s wealth and company.” “But, I am still studying. And I thought you are the CEO.” “No, I only took in charge because your mother said so. The day your father died, the company is already in your name. Your mother asked us not to tell you and let you study so that you will be ready in managing the whole company. But now your mother is dead, the lawyers ask you to go back home and take in charge in the company. I know it is all sudden, but you are the only hope of our family, Chris. You’re the only one who can help us. And without you, the lawyer may close down the company because of your parent’s will. So, Chris, go back home and take in charge of the company unless we all live in poverty.” Chris was shocked by his cousin’s words. He never expected that he is the sole heir of his father’s company. He wanted to take in charge of the company, but now that it is right in front of his face, he doesn’t know what to do. The whole company is in his shoulders, and the whole Roux family. He remembered Tristin. How will he tell her everything? When everything is so perfect, how will he say to her that it might be over between the two of them? His feelings were more chaotic than what he felt three years ago when Tristin left. He has two choices, a love that he always dreamt of having, or he takes the responsibility left by his parents. Choosing between the two is hard and the consequences of his actions might cause problems between Tristin and him, or the whole Roux family. The death of his mother added more to his grief. The only parent he has left him. He always loved his mother. Even though they encountered problems and quarrels between each other, they never gave up and together they fought it. His mother is his source of strength and she is the only who can help him right now. But unfortunately, his mother is not with him and he cannot ask for her advice. Everything is falling down into pieces. Chris is perfectly alright before the problems drowned. And for the first time in his life he doesn’t know what to do. Chris took a seat and reflected. He needed to think clearly and he needed to choose the right path. Finally, Chris has decided. Labels: Chapter 14, Summer to Remember
