Chapter 4
“Good Morning, Sebastian. Had a comfortable sleep?” the Duke asked while they were having their breakfast. “Very delightful, I must say.” Sebastian replied and smiled infectiously. The Duke smiled at him knowing that he complimented his mansion. Sebastian was glancing occasionally to Marie, and he admired her with her hair all tied up and the red muslin gown she is wearing. Her cheeks were pink and her eyes glimmered like a sapphire. Marie silently felt the glances of the Prince and she grew very uncomfortable by it. She put down her spoon and fork, and told them that she is full. She whispered to Mary that she will be waiting outside by the door and they may have their usual walk with Stephen. Mary nodded in reply, and Marie left. Sebastian noted that Marie realized his glances towards her. She might felt uneasy about that and decided to leave. Sebastian was regretful of his actions. If he did not do it, Marie would still be sitting in front of him. After the breakfast, Mary and Stephen left immediately and went by the door. Unknowingly, Sebastian followed them. “Can we go now, Marie?” Stephen inquired. “Yes, of course.” Marie answered with a smile. “Where are you going?” Sebastian asked. The three of them turned around and annoyance was seen in the face of Marie. “We are going for our usual walk. We do this every after breakfast.” Mary replied courteously. “Would you like to join us?” Stephen asked curtly. “If you don’t mind.” Stephen nodded and led him. Stephen and Sebastian walked together to catch up things. They weren’t able to talk privately the day before. “How are your parents?” Sebastian asked. “They are fine. How about the King?” “He is doing well.” “That’s good. After the death of the Queen, it might be very tragic.” “Oh, yes, indeed. But he is well now.” “Good.” Stephen replied. “How is the estate?” Sebastian questioned. “It is doing well. It is more progressive, I have to say.” Stephen replied. The ladies followed them and chatted. “Mary, do you like the Prince?” Marie asked curiously and smirked. “I am interested in him, but I do not like him.” Mary replied. “Really? It looks like as if you very captivated by his charm.” “Oh dear, no. I am most absolutely not. I am merely interested in his life as a Prince.” Mary replied civilly. Marie grinned at her answer. “How about you, Marie? Do you like the Prince?” “Oh, I am so attracted to him” Marie joked and the two of them laughed. The men heard their laughs and turned towards them. “What is very entertaining, ladies?” Stephen asked and hating that he missed the joke they just had. “Nothing, Stephen.” Mary replied, all flushed up. The ladies laughed again. “You make me jealous.” Stephen replied. Sebastian watched the three of them conversed and wished he had companions like them. They seem very intimate with each other and he is envious with them. He watched Marie laugh her heart out. Her cheeks were red with laughter and her eyes were sparkling incredibly. He liked what he is looking. “Let us go back now. The two of you still need to attend your lessons.” Stephen said when he got annoyed because of their laughs. The four of them ambled towards the Mansion talking various subjects and anything that caught their interest. When they arrived at the Mansion, Marie and Mary went to their respective lessons while Stephen invited Sebastian to go with him around the estate. Sebastian gladly accepted the invitation, and the two got a carriage and went around the estate. Labels: Chapter 4, Fortuitously Enamored
