Chapter 17
Tristin stared at her door. She ran to open it thinking that Chris is still there, but when she went out, nobody is there. And a plane just took off in the sky. Tristin watched the plane and wept. She could’ve opened the door earlier and at least say goodbye to him. She is so mad at herself that she fell off her knees. She felt something tugging by her legs. It was a letter. She hastily opened it and recognized Chris’s writing. The letter was from Chris, he must’ve left it when went off. She read it with her eyes full of tears. Tristin,
I am so sorry for everything I have done. I know this hard for you but you must know it is hard for me as well. I never wanted to leave you. You know that I have always and truly loved you and it will never change. This choice is very hard for me. I am sacrificing my own happiness for other people. I don’t know if this is the right path for me, but I will stick to it and give my family the best and what they deserved. I am their last chance of living peacefully for the rest of their lives, not just their lives, but that might include their grandchildren’s children’s future. I might feel alone and sad, but I will do this for my family and for my parents. They entrusted me to do this, and I will do it with much pride and honor.
These occurrences might be a test for us. If we are meant for each other, we will cross one’s path again. We might see each other again and realize that we cannot live without each other. This may be a challenge of our love for each other. I have loved you the day we met at your Grandfather’s field, and I was giving up on my love for you when I went to college, but you were sitting next to my table at the Starbucks, and that changed everything. My love for you bloomed again. The days we spent together made my love for you stronger. And this event may not stop us loving each other, if we are meant together.
And if we are not meant together, find another man who is capable of loving you more than I do. Find a man who can take care of you for the rest of your life and give you happiness that you what deserve. I may live my life alone because of the sacrifice I’ve done, but you should not sacrifice your own happiness for my own sake.
I am not entirely sure what will happen to me after this. But I will do the best that I can to be what my parents expect of me. I will grant their last wish before they die, and my success will be a reward of the sacrifices I have done in my life.
My love for you will never be lost. My love for you will always be the same. I love you, Tristin, and I hope you felt that when we were together.
Je t’aime, Tristin. Et Au revoir.
With love, Chris After reading this, Tristin cried her heart out. Chris loved her, that he is willing to sacrifice his love for her so she will find happiness in another man’s arm. But Tristin thought that she couldn’t do this. Yet, she does not know what will lie ahead in her future. Will be with Chris or another man who might love her better than Chris does? Tristin read again the letter. The letter is full of Chris’s love. The love he had since the day they met. It never changed up to this moment. Tristin cried till she fell asleep. Chapter 16
Chris turned around and gazed his university. This day, he is saying goodbye to his school, to England, and to his love. He went to see Tristin but she didn’t let him in her room. She was too mad of him that she cannot forgive him for leaving her in sadness. He crashed her dreams. To simply put it, he put an end to the meaning of her life. Tristin heard the knocks from her door. She heard Chris calling for her. But she cannot let him in. It hurts hearing his voice saying goodbye, but it would hurt more if she saw him. Seeing his tantalizing eyes that she immediately fell in love with is tormenting knowing that these eyes are also saying goodbye to her. Chris hated himself for making Tristin’s life miserable. He would rather sacrifice his own happiness for the sake of others. But he forgot that he is also sacrificing Tristin’s happiness. He realized how egotistic he is after visiting Tristin and not opening her door for him. She closed her life to him. Chris thought that if he helped other people happy, it might make him happy. Might make him happy. These words buzzed through his head. He thought about it, will he really be happy after the sacrifice he have done? Or will he dread to remember this event because he wasted to be with the love of his life? He may see the happiness in other people’s lives but not in his. But he cannot turn back and change everything he’s done. Chris will go on his choice. He will help raise the family whom he grew up with. He will help them in making their lives peaceful and not to live in poverty. Chris went inside the cab after putting his luggage to the cab. He is going to the airport to catch the earliest flight going to France. Goodbye. Goodbye, England. Doux adieu, Tristin. Chris couldn’t stop the tear that fell from his eye. This is a sad reality, and he want to escape from it as soon as possible. He cannot bear the painful regret in his heart. It tears him apart and the wounds of melancholy can hardly be cured. Chris arrived the airport and was able to catch up with the flight. He wanted to leave the country. He wanted to put the past behind him and forget about it. Going to England isn’t the cure of his love for Tristin, it just worsen it. Labels: Chapter 16, Summer to Remember

Chapter 15
Chris was storming out of his room. He then realized it was actually raining. “Such a coincidence!” He mumbled. He hastily went to Tristin and he will confess to her what his decision is. He knocked at her, and hurrying her to open it. He didn’t mind what she’ll say; all he want to do is tell her what is his decision. No matter what happens, it will be final. “Chris? What’s wrong?” Tristin asked. She was clearly awakened by Chris’s knocks. “I have something very important to say.” “Oh, okay. Come in.” She replied with a yawn and opened the door. She expected him to kiss her but he didn’t and went inside and he looked so furious. “Are you mad? What is the problem?” Tristin asked. “I am sorry for waking you up. I know it is early and it is very impolite of me to storming here without telling you.” Chris said and continued, “My mother passed away last night.” “Oh my God, I am so sorry, Chris.” Tristin said while hugging him just to comfort him. “It’s okay, Tri.” He said as he pulled Tristin’s arms. Tristin was completely shocked by his gesture. He usually hugged her back when she hugs him, especially when moments like these happen. “I am fine, Tristin. Don’t worry about me.” He paused and continued, “That is not only the problem. I have heard from my cousin, who is actually managing my father’s business, that I am the sole heir of the company. The second my father died, the company is named after me. But I was young at that time, so my mother told my cousin to take care of the business while I will continue on my studies so I can prepare for taking in charge of the company.” He paused to let Tristin understand the whole thing he just said. “You may think that it is not a problem but it is. I am going back to France this Tuesday. I will be attending to my mother’s funeral and I will inform you beforehand that I will no longer be going back here.” “What? No! You will come back here, right? Please say yes, Chris.” Tristin pleaded and tears are starting to fall from her eyes. “No, Tristin. I will not coming back here. I will study there.” “You can study here! Why should you study there?” “I am the CEO and the President of the company, Tristin. I need to be there. I cannot let my cousin manage the company because it will be against my parents’ wishes. Problems will occur if I let my cousin manage it. And the whole Roux family is depending on the company. If the company will be shut down, my family will live in poverty and I cannot let that happen! I will go back to France, study there, and manage the company with the help of my cousin.” Chris retorted. “What about us? What will happen to us?” Tristin asked while her tears are continuously flowing down from her eyes. Chris was silent. He was hesitant to say his decision to her. It will not just break her heart, his too. But since he finally decided what choice he will take, he should face the consequences of his choices. “Continue with your studies and live your life to the fullest. You have a bright future. Find another man, someone who is better than me. I know you’ll be happy really soon. I have a responsibility to fulfill, and the whole family is depending on me. I cannot turn them down. I am sorry, Tristin. But, I guess it is over.” He said it seriously. While Tristin wept, Chris stormed out of her room and went back to his room. Chris couldn’t help the tears fall from his eyes. He love Tristin so dearly, and it is happening all over again. He needed to say goodbye to her. How can God punish him? He had been a good kid and always gave his parents happiness. But why does he need to suffer so much? Why does he need to give up his love? Chris ran to his room and cried out loud. Tristin gaped at the open door only to realize that Chris left her. He may have left forever. The words that he said kept ringing on her mind. “I am sorry, Tristin. But, I guess it is over.” Tristin couldn’t put away these words in her mind. She couldn’t believe that Chris is actually breaking up with her. The feeling of blissfulness vanished immediately the moment he said it is all over. All of her hopes were crushed. She thought she has everything, but as of now, there is nothing left in her life. She felt miserable and alone, and the only person who could help her is exactly the person who made her feel like this. She never expected this to happen, and since it happened, she dreaded herself for waking up and why did she open the door. She hated everything around her. She hated herself. She hated Chris for making her so happy and making her feel she has everything. But now, she lost everything, because of him. She hated him and she couldn’t forgive him for this. Chris hated himself for doing that but he couldn’t do anything. He made a decision, and he would rather hurt himself rather than turning down all the Roux family. It is better to give up his wants for the sake of others. Even though he hated this sacrifice, he knew he will be rewarded soon. He will come back and let Tristin know that he have always loved her. Whatever happens, he will never change the love of his life, Tristin. Labels: Chapter 15, Summer to Remember
