Chapter 5
Chris was at the library, studying. He was trying to escape the flock of ladies following him all around. The library is his sanctuary. It is only the area in the campus where silence is a rule and noise is a violation. He needed to avoid all the noise and distractions from the university. Chris read some books just to pass time until it is dark. The screeching sound of the chair of the table next to Chris annoyed him. He turned his head to ask the person, whoever it is, to silently pull the chair. When he was about to ask the person to keep down the noise, he froze. He returned his eyes to the book and momentarily paused. He turned again his head and was about to say something before he was interrupted. “I am sorry for the noise. I didn’t know it was loud and may have disturbed you. Pardon me.” Tristin interrupted. Tristin stared at him and saw the scar at his left eyebrow. It reminded her of Chris. Tristin and Chris were playing by the river at the time. They were splashing water at each other. Chris ran towards her to stop her. At the same moment, she splashed water to him to keep him away from her; one of her finger wounded his eyebrow. It was bleeding severely that made Chris’s left eye to tear because blood went inside his eye. Tristin cried so hard and it took a long time before she was able to forgive herself of what had happened. Memories flooded through Tristin’s brain. It seems she cannot put a stop to it. Chris conceived that Tristin was already thinking something else. Her stare seems to see through him. It looks like her thoughts were out there, somewhere. “It is alright.” Chris said. It was only when Tristin landed back to reality. “You were saying?” Tristin asked. She looks lost and her voice sounded a bit of sadness. “I said it is alright.” Chris repeated. “Oh, okay.” Tristin sat down and she stared at her things blankly. She looked dumbfounded and pale. “I never had the opportunity to introduce myself properly to you. My name’s Christian Roux. And you are?” Chris asked. But he already guessed what her answer is. “Tristin. Tristin Aarons.” Tristin replied. “Call me Ian.” Chris added. Chris called himself Ian the moment he stepped his foot on the British grounds. And ever since then, he was pretty used to it. “I am very pleased to meet you, Tristin.” He said. “Nice to meet you, too.” Chris continued on his reading and Tristin started studying.
