Epilogue
The Palace of Wales was filled with guests. Laughter roared all over the halls and enthusiastic conversations were adding to the noise that has been created. The Palace was exultant after the heir of the King has been born. It has been a year, Sebastian and Marie were married. It took a couple of problems before they got married. Yet, they were able to surpass it and prove to the people of their love. Now, they are blessed with a beautiful baby boy. Marie named the baby, John. He was named after the Father of Sebastian. Sebastian watched his wife and the son in her arms. He never has been this jovial in his life. He approached his wife and kissed her tenderly on her lips. He kissed the forehead of the beautiful tiny creature that he and Marie made. He cupped the head of his child and caressed his face. He smiled at his son, who was slightly smiling back at him. Sebastian turned his gaze to his wife and kissed her forehead. “He is beautiful, my dear.” Marie said, as she nuzzled to Sebastian’s chest. “I know. Our son is so beautiful, just like his mother.” Sebastian replied softly. “No, Sebastian. He looks like you. Look at his eyes, it have the shade of gray, just like yours. It is one of the reasons I fell in love you. Your eyes are so unique.” Sebastian smiled at his wife and answered, “John has my eyes, but he has your beautiful face.” Marie nuzzled her child and together with Sebastian, they went to the hall to greet the guests. Sebastian halted and pulled Marie to stop. Marie asked him is there a problem. Sebastian smiled and answered, “Darling, having my child in your arms, I guess that isn’t a problem.” Marie beamed at her husband. Love is clearly seen in Sebastian’s eyes and Marie couldn’t deny that she see it too. “I love you, Marie.” Sebastian said and kissed her tenderly, pouring out all the love in his heart. Fervently and slowly, he kissed her as if it is the last he will give her. When he pulled away from the kiss, Marie was flushed. “I love you, too.” Sebastian smiled. Then, he grinned. “What are you laughing at?” “I never thought I would be fortuitously enamored someday.” “Well, you did. And what do you think? Is it good?” “It is the best feeling in the world, Marie.” “Good. Because I feel the same way too.” “You’re fortuitously enamored with me too?” “Yes.” Labels: Epilogue, Fortuitously Enamored

Chapter 27
“How are you, Marie?” The King asked. Marie smiled at the King and replied, “I am fine, Your Majesty.” She, then, turned her gaze to Sebastian who is studying her with a smile. Marie was sure he remembered what happened last night. The time they spent on the porch. It was romantic and memorable. Marie will never forget what happened. It’s worth remembering, she concluded. “Oh, that is good.” The King said. Marie beamed at him. The breakfast was filled by the chats of the King and the Duke. They shared their different opinions on how to run estates. They didn’t observe their children, who are already exchanging affectionate glances and sweet smiles. Sebastian was staring Marie with interesting eyes. Marie kept her head low. She was intimidated by Sebastian’s stares. In a good way, of course. The second Marie stood, Sebastian stood up too. Marie went to out of the Mansion to have her early walks. She knew Sebastian was following her nearby. She can hear the echoing footsteps, it was heavy and audible. Marie halted and turned around to check on him. He stopped, as well, his hands on his pockets, head low, teasing eyes on her. Marie giggled at him and continued walking. Sebastian followed her still. Marie stopped again and turned around. Sebastian was no longer there. She was saddened, but she should be happy. At least, no one will be stalking her. Why is she feeling down? Marie lowered her head and was about to turn around. She was held by a firm hand on her arm and a hand tipped her chin. It was Sebastian. He was beaming down at her. Marie just realized how tall he is. He’s eyes were shining brightly. It was mocking her, as well. “I thought you left.” Marie said softly. His smile widened. He caressed her cheeks and whispered hoarsely, “My dear Marie, I will never leave you alone.” The way Sebastian said it almost knocked off Marie’s feet. Good thing Sebastian was holding her tightly in his arms. Marie will never lose her balance. Marie watched his eyes and saw that his words were true. A slight curve on her lips brought Sebastian on his knees. He can no longer control himself. He lowered his face to hers and kissed her fervently. Sparks filled all of their bodies. Their kiss bonded them together, and no matter what happens they will never be again separated. Sebastian moved his lips slowly on hers. Inviting and asking her to kiss him back. She responded instantly and Sebastian moaned. Her response was absolute satisfaction. He kissed her more. He asked for more. He needed it. He was hungry for it. He moved his lips like the way she does. He found the rhythm. It was perfect. Earthly paradise. After pulling himself from the kiss, he planted light kisses on her forehead and whispered softly. Even Marie couldn’t understand what he is saying, but it no longer mattered. As long as she is in his arms, nothing else really matters. “I love you, Marie. I always did.” Sebastian whispered huskily. Marie nuzzled at his chest and replied softly, “I do, too.” Labels: chapter 27, Fortuitously Enamored

Chapter 26
The engagement ball was a success. The guests were enjoying the affair enormously and they loved the soon-to-be couples. They find Sebastian and Marie a perfect couple. Aside from having very good family backgrounds, both of them are handsome. They actually deserve each other. Marie went to the porch and rested. She couldn’t sleep yet. She might be exhausted but she still feels very lively. While sitting at one of the benches, she studied the ring on her hand. Sebastian gave it to her tonight, after their dance. It fitted perfectly on her slim fingers, and it glittered like the stars in the heaven. She recollected the many guests who find their engagement amusing, at the same, expected. Having the Prince living in the Mansion for a month started the rumors of their engagement soon. Marie denied that they planned to engagement before the Prince stayed in Cornwall, but the guest won’t accept her reason. Marie gave up on forcing them to believe to her so she ignored them. Marie watched the heavens and pondered what would happen if Sebastian and she would be married. Would it wonderful? Or would it be drastic? She gazed the stars and contemplated her questions more deeply. She was disturbed when she saw a looming shadow by the doorway. Sebastian ambled towards her and sat next to her. Marie watched Sebastian with curiosity. Sebastian ignored her at first but it intimidated him later. “What?” Sebastian asked as he removed his hands from his pockets. “Why are you here?” Marie snapped. “Do not answer me with a question.” Sebastian retorted annoyingly. Marie was about to say something but she was out smarted by Sebastian. She sighed and turned back her gaze to the stars. Her curiosity bothered her so. So, she asked Sebastian again what he is doing at the porch. “Fine, I cannot sleep. Knowing that my fiancé isn’t asleep yet.” “How’d you know I wasn’t asleep yet?” “I am waiting for you in front of you room. I tried to knock, and no one opened. I thought you were mad at me. It bothered me so. Then, I cannot control myself already, so I opened the door and I didn’t see you. I was worried about you, and wondered where you are. Then, I tried looking for you, thus saw you here.” Marie gaped at him. He was worried about her! “You know where I am now, you can sleep comfortably now.” “Is it really that dreadful being right next to me?” Sebastian replied angrily and stood up. He left her without saying goodbye. “Sebastian.” Marie summoned softly. Sebastian stopped walking and waited for her to say more. “You can stay. If that’s what you want.” Marie added. And it’s what I want. Marie thought. Sebastian smiled at her gullibility. He sauntered back to the sofa and sank right next to her. He groaned and yawned. Marie giggled. “What are you giggling about?” Sebastian asked curiously. “You are tired, Sebastian. Go ahead and sleep. I will sleep later, don’t worry about me.” Marie replied and smiled at him. Sebastian caressed her cheeks. Marie placed her face towards her shoulders and moved slowly back and forth so she can feel Sebastian’s hand caressing her cheeks. Sebastian smiled at her gesture and pulled himself towards her. He beamed at her and gently, he whispered, “I will kiss you. Promise me you won’t slap me.” Marie grinned and nodded. Sebastian smiled and swooped down for a kiss. He had wanted to do this since he saw her in her room, looking fresh and lively. He kissed her hungrily, but gently. His kiss was full of passion and full of love. Sebastian placed his other hand on Marie’s back and pulled her closer to him. Marie rested her hands on his chest and felt the fast beating of his heart. The kiss was long and fervent. Sebastian pulled slowly away from the kiss and kissed her jaw lightly. He cupped head and kissed her one last time on the lips. Sebastian smiled as he pulled away. He rested his head on her forehead to breathe. He kissed her on the forehead and bid her good night. Sebastian knew he can sleep well after the kiss. And Marie, too, will sleep very well. Labels: Chapter 26, Fortuitously Enamored

Chapter 25
The Mansion of the Duke of Cornwall was busy because of the engagement ball for the Heir Duchess of Cornwall and the Crown Prince of Wales. The guests were slowly flooding the Mansion with gifts and laughter. The servants were busy entertaining the guests with food and liquor. The Duke was thrilled by the arrival of the guests. He engaged himself with greeting them and entertaining them. With him was the King of Wales. Upstairs, Marie was very nervous about the ball. This ball entitles Sebastian of having her as his fiancée. And his wife, as well. Marie was tensed. She was worried because she’s scared she will be married to the haughty Prince. She is worried also if the Prince will find her irresistible. She wore blue muslin gown giving her sapphire eyes glow. Her long mahogany hair was tied above her neck. Her cheeks were pink and her lips were pale red. The servants complimented Marie for having the perfect skin tone making her face emanated with her gown. Marie admired herself at the vanity table, but would the guests admire her? A knock was heard from her bedroom door. She thought it was her Father so she stood up and waited gladly by the front of the door. She knew her Father would be so proud of her when she looked so pretty. The second the knob turned, her excitement grew. But when the door opened and saw a tall, broad-shouldered man standing holding the knob, her excitement disappeared instantly. Sebastian was standing in front of Marie’s door. He was astounded. He has never seen such a wondrous creature. His breath was taken away when he saw Marie standing opposite of the door with a smile. Her smile disappeared when she saw him. Marie looked stunning in her blue gown and the pink tint of her cheeks. He wanted to grab her and stay in her room for the rest of the night. Sebastian’s anger of her, vanish the moment he laid his eyes on her. Marie watched Sebastian gaping at her. She studied him very closely. She smelled his spicy cologne the second he went inside in her room. She knew it would linger there forever. He was newly shaven. His jaw looked so smooth, and she forced herself not to be tempted to touch it. Sebastian’s eyes showed awe and admiration. She has seen it before. It was the first time they met. He looked so princely in his formal attire. Of course, he looked so princely since he is a Prince. But, ignoring the title, he still looks so princely, and handsome. Marie gained her consciousness first and curtsied to the Prince. When Marie curtsied, Sebastian recovered from his awe and bowed to Marie. He smiled and greeted her. The smile melted Marie to the bones. The Prince offered his arm to her and Marie watched him curiously. The Prince understood her gesture and said, “I will escort you to the hall.” “Why you?” “It is me because I am your fiancé.” He replied patiently. Marie watched him and nodded slightly. She placed her arm on the crook of his arm. Sebastian pulled her hand and held it. He smiled at her comfortingly, while Marie returned the gesture, but awkwardly. Sebastian led Marie to the staircase where they caught the attention of the guests. Whispers were echoing over the halls. Marie tightened her hands to Sebastian. Sebastian understood Marie’s behavior. She was nervous. She never liked the attention. Sebastian clasped her hand more tightly and whispered amiably, “I am here right next to you, Marie.” Marie smiled at him when he assured her that there’s nothing going to happen to her when he’s there. Marie’s heart ached when she felt the truthfulness of Sebastian’s words. They slowly walked down the stairs. Marie was clinging to Sebastian tightly. When they reached the last step, Sebastian led her to his Father and bowed. He introduced his fiancé for the first time. Marie was nervous about the meeting the King, but when she saw the King beaming at her, all her worries vanished. After the greetings, Sebastian asked Marie for his first dance. Marie gladly accepted the offer and let him lead her to the dance floor. Labels: Chapter 25, Fortuitously Enamored

Chapter 24
Two days later, Stephen received a letter from the King. He wanted to arrange the engagement earlier, and wants it to be in Cornwall. He wanted to meet the Duke who has been so hospitable in letting the Prince staying in his mansion. The King also wants to have the wedding within two months. He wants to see his son to be married when he goes back to Wales. Stephen was bothered by the letter and wondered how he will inform Marie about the King’s wishes. He went to the dining hall for supper and everyone was already settled on the table. Sebastian looked very serene and Marie looked worried. He sat quietly next to Sebastian and waited for the food arrives. “Sebastian, did you receive a letter from your Father?” Stephen asked softly. Sebastian turned to him and nodded. “Why?” Sebastian asked. “Does it say you will be going back to Cornwall for the engagement?” Sebastian nodded again. “The letter says that the engagement party will be arranged by you, and it will be in Cornwall. It should be arranged this week or next week.” Sebastian added. He grinned after he drank his wine which caught attention by the people on the table. “I don’t know why my Father wants me to be engaged early. He might want his son to be a bachelor no more.” Sebastian remarked. In reality, he knew exactly why his Father wants him to engage early. Sebastian asked for it. Stephen replied him with a grin and continued eating. Marie eyed at Sebastian when she heard his remark. The engagement would be early. She exasperated annoyingly. Stephen told Marie about the letter after the supper. Marie was shocked and was annoyed by Sebastian’s pleased mood on the supper. Marie paced at her room remembering the grin Sebastian made during the supper. It was only then she heard him laugh. It was very long since she heard it. She hated to admit it but she adored the music of his grin and the sound of his timbre voice. She missed the voice whispering on her ears, and the soft way he talks to her. Marie was still in love with him. No matter what she does, she was still enamored with him. After seeing him in the supper, with his unshaven jaw and dazzling saxe blue eyes, he still is irresistibly handsome and being a Prince added more manly feature on him. Marie remembered his fingers playing with his food, and a vivid image of his hands tightly clasped on hers brought back memories of them being together. She hated that, and enjoyed it at the same time. She sat in front of her vanity table and brushed her long brown hair. She watched herself at the mirror and stared at her big blue eyes, she wondered if Sebastian really loved her. She also wondered if he finds her beautiful, or stunning, or maybe pretty. She looked at her face and said to herself that there is nothing very attractive at her face. She looks the same like other ladies. She wished she has the same blue eyes of Sebastian’s. It was mysterious and cynical, yet there is something very cheerful about it. Marie lied on her bed and faced the ceiling. She pondered if having Sebastian as a husband won’t be terrible. She imagined herself at the nursery holding his child in her arms and Sebastian reclining on the door watching her in awe and his child in her arms. She giggled and closed her eyes to sleep. Chapter 23
The moment Sebastian woke up; he immediately went to his writing desk and took pen and paper. He wrote a letter to his Father, urging him to hasten his marriage. He should be married as soon as possible. Sebastian asked his Father to arrange the wedding in Cornwall and he also wrote that he would be living in Cornwall when he is married. He will only be in Wales when he will receive the throne. Sebastian reasoned that he wanted to help his future father-in-law in developing the estate into a better one. He finished the letter with a thank you and asked his valet to send the letter immediately. Sebastian arrived in the dining hall when everyone was waiting for his arrival. He took a glance to Marie and she looked tired and her eyes were puffy. She might have not slept comfortably. Sebastian took his seat as the servant pulled his chair for him. The breakfast arrived after the Prince has taken the seat. The breakfast was quiet and the food was delightful. The eerie silence of the breakfast aggravated the Prince. He breathed deeply and loudly. His gesture was showing boredom. Edward threw him an angry glance, the Prince replied him with a cold stare. The breakfast finished when the Prince stood up and left the table. Marie watched the Prince left the dining hall. She was aggravated by his behavior awhile ago. He was selfish and very egocentric. She hated herself for falling in love with someone like him. Sebastian isn’t the right person for her; Marie deserves someone cheerful and someone who respect people. She doesn’t need an egocentric partner for the rest of her life. Marie left the table with the Stephen. Stephen took her to the veranda. He wanted to talk to her privately. They reached the veranda, and saw Sebastian sitting in the rails of the veranda. He reclined on the post and he was staring to space. “What are you doing, Stephen?” Sebastian asked, not looking at them. Marie jumped as she heard the cold voice of Sebastian. He wasn’t looking at her with his blazing eyes, but his voice is enough to send chills in her spine. “Oh, nothing, Sebastian. Marie and I wanted to talk privately. Since you are already in the veranda, we will find somewhere else to talk. We don’t want to bother your privacy.” Stephen replied calmly. Stephen was never intimidated by his cousin’s tough personality. “You can stay here. I will leave.” Sebastian replied as he stood. He ambled towards the door and stopped in front of Marie. He studied her with his cold stare and greeted, “Good Morning, my dear fiancée.” He started walking before Marie was able to look at his face. Marie watched him leave. She was angry. He doesn’t have the right to call her his fiancée. Never. Stephen placed his hand on her elbow to guide her to the sofa. Marie smiled at his courteousness and sat quietly in the sofa. She watched Stephen sit on the sofa opposite of hers. Stephen gazed at her with a worried look. He breathed deeply and blinked his eyes. “Stephen, do I really need to marry your cousin?” Marie asked. Stephen nodded slightly. “But, why me?” “Because the King wants to. He is looking forward to meeting you. He finds you very pleasant as what I have described of you. Marie, I never expected the incident at the opera house. If I knew it would happen, I should’ve declined the engagement. But, I have already agreed with helping in the engagement. And your Father accepted the proposition. “Marie, I apologize terribly. Sebastian and you looked happy together when we went out with Mary. I thought you would want to marry him, then. And the engagement might bring happiness to you. I have known my cousin ever since. He is a nice man, that’s why I agreed in having him as your husband. I know that he will take care of you even if you loathed him.” “Will he really take care of him?” Marie asked curiously. She looked worried and sad. “Yes, I am sure. I know him better than anyone does.” Marie smiled at the assurance of Stephen gave to her. Marie knows that she can always run to Stephen when she is troubled. Stephen sat next beside her and gave her a brotherly kiss on her forehead. He then stood up and left Marie alone in the veranda. Labels: Chapter 23, Fortuitously Enamored

Chapter 22
Sebastian watched Marie stood up from the table and ran. He was worried about her. He loved her very much, and he knew the announcement upset her. Marie doesn’t want to tie any knots with him. Especially, after what happened this afternoon. His heart ached as he pictured a vivid image of Marie crying. He cannot imagine Marie hurt because of him. Sebastian is crazy for hurting his dear Marie. His dear Marie. Sebastian sat quietly in dining table. He was too concerned on his wine glass that he didn’t realize people left him alone. He played his wine and thought where Marie would be. She might be in her room, at least there, she can attain peace and no one would ever try to bother her. Sebastian was in his deep thoughts at that moment and recollecting the days he spent with Marie in Cornwall. How she was happy in his arms and gladly accepts the kiss he gives. But now, everything changed. Because of Carmel. And the engagement plans. Sebastian stood up from his chair and drank the wine with one hard swallow. He wished he can swallow all the problems he is confronting. He would digest the problems and eliminate it all. But it wasn’t as easy like that. Reality is more complicated and more tormenting. He ambled slowly back to his room. Sebastian’s hands were on his pockets and his head was bowed down as if he is doing penance. Every step he takes was slow. He was by the stairs when a glimpse of gown caught his attention. It was from the parlor. He sauntered quietly and watched the halls if Edward or Stephen might be there, but they weren’t there. He reached the knob and saw Marie sitting by the vermilion couch. Her head was rested at the back and her eyes were closed tightly. Sebastian pushed the door open, slowly and quietly. It took him four quiet gaits to be in front of Marie. He sat quietly on one of the damask sofas and studied the face of Marie. Marie has always been beautiful. Even the glimpse of worry on her face, she still looks absolutely stunning. Her cheeks were smooth and tinted with pink. How he wished to caress it and kiss it endlessly. Her lips open slightly showing a peek of her white teeth. Her hands with long fingers were in fists. He wanted to grab it and place it in his heart so she will know how he felt for her. He gazed back to her face and a single tear glistened on her smooth cheeks. “Oh Marie.” Sebastian cried as he ran towards her and kissed her tears away. Marie gaped as Sebastian kissed her cheeks, wiping her tears away. Sebastian cupped her face and a slight curve formed on his lips. Marie stared blankly at Sebastian. She doesn’t know what to do. “Are you alright?” Sebastian whispered huskily. Marie nodded slightly. Sebastian pulled her towards him as he knelt in front of her. He smelled the fragrant scent of her hair and kissed her temple. He embraced her long and shook her tears away. He pulled himself away from her and faced her. Marie slapped him as she got her consciousness back when he faced her. She removed his hands away from her shoulders. She stood up and left him kneeling in front of the couch. Sebastian’s hands turned to fist and hit the couch. He yelled back at her before she was able to leave the parlor, “I will marry you whatever it takes, Marie! I don’t care if I hurl you towards the altar! I let you bear my name and you will be the mother of my children!” Marie paused when she heard the words of Sebastian. She was infuriated by what he said. There is no way she will be his wife. She will never be his wife. Never. Sebastian stormed out of the parlor before her. He passed her without glancing her way. His eyes were full of anger. He was clearly enraged. That gave more reasons why Marie shouldn’t marry him. He has a temper that easily flares up. Before Sebastian took the first step of the stairs, he turned his head to Marie and said coldly, “Remember that I will marry you whatever means it will take me.” Then, he continued walking up to the stairs. Marie watched him leave. He is harsh and austere. She has no reasons why she should marry the arrogant beast. He is unscrupulous and he is cruel. Her children would suffer if Sebastian is their father. Marie won’t let her children endure the ruthlessness and callousness of Sebastian. Labels: Chapter 22, Fortuitously Enamored
